Aberlour 12 Year Old Non Chill-Filtered is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, presented in a tube. It matures in parallel in American oak casks and former sherry casks, and the matured parts are then married. It is bottled at 48% without chill-filtration or added colour.
The bourbon-cask sweetness meets the spicy fruitiness of the sherry casks, giving strawberry jam, plum and raisins, with dark chocolate and toffee. The oily texture is a feature of the style.
The nose offers strawberry jam, honey and toffee with a touch of roasted grain and vanilla. The palate is oily and full, with sherry, sweet plum, dark chocolate, toffee, raisins, cinnamon and ginger. The long finish stays sweet and gently spiced, with orange marmalade.
