Aberlour – 12 Year Old Non Chill-Filtered (70cl, 48%)

This is a 12 year old Aberlour Speyside single malt, matured in two types of cask. Part of the whisky rests in ex-bourbon American oak, part in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, and the two are married afterwards. It is bottled at 48%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, in a 70cl bottle. Fruit, sherry, dark chocolate and spice run through it, with raisins in the mix. The nose is full of strawberry jam, ripe red fruit including red apple, and a hint of vanilla. The palate brings clear sherry notes and plum with dark chocolate, creamy toffee, raisins, cinnamon and a touch of ginger. The finish is long and warming, with lasting fruit and sherry, sweetness, gentle spice and oak.
