Aberlour – 12 Years Old Double Cask Matured (40%)

Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask Matured is a single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, bottled at 40% ABV. It is matured in two types of cask: American ex-bourbon casks and European oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon casks bring vanilla, coconut and light fruit, while the sherry casks add dried fruit, nuts and chocolate. The blender decides the final balance between the two. The nose offers orange peel, banana and red apple over vanilla, toasted nuts, a touch of aniseed and heather. On the palate it is medium-bodied and lightly sweet, with orange, chocolate, oak and apple over a malty undertone. The finish is medium in length, with orange, milk chocolate and sweet barley.
