A 31 year old single cask Aberlour from Speyside, filled in May 1988 and given a three-month finish in a small sherry octave. Duncan Taylor bottled it in 2019 for its Octave Premium Range, at a cask strength of 48.3%. The cask produced 62 bottles, and the whisky is non-chill-filtered with no added colouring.
The nose is fruity with a mild sweetness, with toffee apple notes turning earthy, alongside ginger, lime and fine nuttiness. The palate is full, with nutty tones, chocolate-coated fruit, earthy touches, rich berry jam and spicy almonds, then oak spice and dried fruit. The finish is very long, marked by spice and chocolate, which develop into sweet oak and dark toffee.
