A single malt from Aberlour, distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2019 after 31 years in oak. It is bottled at 49% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and is one of 58 bottles.
It belongs to The Octave Premium Series, in which whisky is held in sherry casks to deepen its flavour. An octave is about an eighth of the size of a butt and yields roughly 80 to 100 bottles.
The nose opens sweet, with dark chocolate, hints of lime and a touch of fresh, creamy mint. On the palate come tropical fruit and ginger spice, then a little salt and lemongrass. The finish is sweet oak with dark chocolate.
