A cask strength bottling in Aberlour's A'Bunadh range, Batch No.5 is called Alba after Quercus Alba, the American white oak used for the ex-bourbon barrels in which the whisky was matured exclusively. It is bottled at 62.7% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is sweet, with peaches, vanilla and honey, marzipan and banana dessert, plus hints of hay and nutmeg. On the palate it is creamy, then turns grassy, with ginger, green apple peel, lemon zest, nougat and coconut. The finish is long and peppery, with mint and sweet lemons.
