Aberlour – Casg Annamh Batch Release #4 (70cl, 48%)

This is the fourth batch of Aberlour Casg Annamh, a Speyside single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The series name is Gaelic for 'rare cask'. Each expression is made from three types of cask: European oak sherry casks and two kinds of American oak cask. The whisky leans towards toffee and dried fruit, with a good measure of baking spice. The nose brings honey on toast, red liquorice, melted butter, dates and Brazil nuts. On the palate there is chocolate chip flapjack, honeyed cereals, nutmeg and cinnamon, with a hint of red wine. The finish offers banana fritters, pancakes, sultanas and coffee.
