Aberlour – Casg Annamh Small Batch 0009 (70cl, 48%)

Casg Annamh is Aberlour's small-batch Speyside single malt, and Batch 0009 is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle without an age statement. The name is Gaelic for 'rare cask'. The whisky was matured in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, combined with two different types of American oak cask. The Spanish oak butts had previously held Oloroso. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose is rich and sweet, with orange, blood orange, glacé cherries and raisins, and a touch of ginger. On the palate come ripe apple, cinnamon pastry and peach, balanced by liquorice and cloves. The finish is long and fruity, with a fine dry spice.
