Akashi 5 Years Old is a Japanese single malt whisky bottled at 50% ABV, made at the White Oak distillery in the town of Akashi, which is owned by the Eigashima Company.
It was aged in an American oak cask that previously held Kijoshu, a concentrated, sweet style of sake.
The nose offers walnut and vanilla with a hint of peat. The palate shows bittersweet orange and chocolate-covered banana, and the finish dries with black tea and leather.
