Akkeshi – Syunbunn "Vernal Equinox" (70cl, 55%)

Akkeshi Syunbunn, named Vernal Equinox, is a Japanese whisky from the Akkeshi distillery on Hokkaido, in a 70cl bottle at 55% abv. Akkeshi was founded in 2016 by the Tokyo trading company Kenten Jitsugyo, in an area known for its milk and cheese. The coastal setting is likened to Islay, and like Islay the distillery is noted for its use of peat. It works with two stills and six washbacks, and matures its whisky in a wide variety of cask styles.
