AnCnoc Rascan is a Scotch single malt matured in bourbon casks, with a phenol level of 11.1 ppm. The name comes from the rascan, a tool used to strip the top layer of earth from heather so that peat can then be cut. The nose opens with a fine honey sweetness, then green apples and notes of orange and lemon. The palate is sweet, with vanilla and honey at first, then toffee and subtle spice over a gently leathery undertone. The finish is floral, with soft smoke.
