Arcanum Peaty Little Secret 9 Year Old (50cl, 58.4%)

Peaty Little Secret is a 9 year old Islay whisky from Arcanum Spirits, in a 50cl bottle at 58.4% ABV. It is one of 439 bottles. The whisky spent eight years in an ex-bourbon cask, followed by a further twelve months in an Oloroso sherry cask. The usual Islay smoke and peat is set against sweet vanilla, with nutty notes and ripe fruit alongside. Despite its youth and strength, it is described as rounded and full-bodied, without the sharpness of alcohol you might expect.
