This is a single cask Ardbeg from Islay, distilled in 1988 and bottled in November 2009 at eleven years old. It comes from one sherry hogshead, number 2763, which gave 270 bottles, and it was a distillery exclusive.
The nose combines rich dark fruit, treacle and leather with tarry peat smoke. On the palate, creamy chocolate and cappuccino lead to black cherries, liquorice and a little crushed pepper. The finish is long, with treacle toffee, black cherry and aniseed.
