Ardbeg 1978 Vintage is a Limited Edition Old Style Islay single malt, distilled in 1978 and bottled in 1998. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled one year before Hiram Walker bought all the shares in the company, buying out both the McDougall family and Distillers Company Ltd.
The nose is full and slightly herbal, with brine, peat smoke, espresso beans, fresh lime and cedar wood, followed by vanilla spice and a little toasty oak. On the palate it is full-bodied and woody, with balanced herbal notes, coffee beans and cut hay. The finish is long, turning very spicy and oaked.
