Ardbeg Anamorphic is a peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 48.2% in a 75cl bottle without chill filtration. Ardbeg was founded in 1815 on the southern coast of Islay.
The spirit is matured in ex-bourbon casks given a treatment called High Mocha. The cask heads are removed and deeply scored, then heavily toasted and recharred before the casks are reassembled and filled, drawing cocoa and roasted-wood flavours into the smoky spirit.
The nose is earthy and biscuity, with sooty tar, vanilla, ripe banana, baked apple and chocolate with walnuts. The palate is peppery, with chilli chocolate, mocha, grilled citrus, birch tar and black pepper. The finish is long and gently smoky, with dark chocolate and soft baking spices.
