Ardbeg BizarreBQ is a peaty Islay single malt at 50.9% ABV, created by Master Distiller Dr Bill Lumsden with Christian Stevenson, known as DJ BBQ. It is the distillery's first release inspired solely by barbecue.
It combines double-charred oak barrels, Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels and specially made BBQ barrels, which were charred heavily over a traditional fire basket.
The nose is peaty, with charcoal, soot, smoked ham and braised meats, then fresh herbal and citrus notes with caramel and cinnamon. The palate is meaty and spicy, with grilled meat, chilli-lacquered ribs, cloves, ginger and anise. The finish is long and smoky, with grilled artichokes and black olives.
