Ardbeg – Corryvreckan (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.1%, named after the Corryvreckan whirlpool between the islands of Jura and Scarba. Part of its maturation takes place in French oak casks, which gives it a different character from whiskies matured only or mainly in American oak. It began as a bottling for dedicated Ardbeg followers and later became a permanent part of the distillery's range. The nose is malty and intense, with peat smoke, warm spice, wood and dark fruit. The palate is full, with malt, fruit and smoke supported by spicy oak. The finish is long and warm, with peat smoke, spice and oak over a dry, lightly peppery edge.
