Ardbeg – Corryvreckan (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt named after the famous whirlpool to the north of the distillery's island home. It is bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose is swirling, and the palate is deep, peppery and chewy. Peppered steak in pepper sauce comes first, with the tang of crispy seaweed. Deeper in, there is black, tarry espresso coffee, rich melted dark fruits such as blackcurrant, blueberry and cherry, and bitter almonds.
