Ardbeg – Hypernova Limited Edition Committee Release (70cl)

Ardbeg Hypernova is a limited edition Committee Release Islay single malt from 2022. Ardbeg describes it as its smokiest expression, an evolution of the Supernova series, with phenol levels in excess of 170 ppm. The colour is pale sulphur. The nose is powerful and pungent, with tar, smoke, sea salt and a barnyard note, then blackcurrant and peppermint. Water brings lavender, a hint of chocolate, plasticine and burnt rubber. The palate is peppery, with sweet chocolate, mint, peat smoke, bitter almonds, aniseed and clove. The finish is heavy with smoke, then turns to roasted coffee and smoked heather.
