Ardbeg Scorch is an Islay single malt matured in the distillery's most heavily charred ex-bourbon casks. This Committee Release was bottled in 2021 at 51.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
Ardbeg produces a heavily peated Islay whisky, and this expression is built around smoke and char.
The nose has roasted barley and bonfire smoke, with a hint of clove coming later. On the palate there is soot and salty liquorice, with a touch of toasted brown sugar adding sweetness. The finish is long and richly smoky.
