Ardbeg – Wee Beastie 5 Year Old (47.4%)

A 5 year old Ardbeg bottled at 47.4%, non-chill-filtered, and a permanent addition to the distillery's Ultimate Range. It was made with the aim of being the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg yet. The malt is peated to 50 ppm. On the nose there are fresh herbal notes with vanilla and pear, Turkish coffee, pine resin and honey-glazed ham. With water, vetiver, fennel, aniseed, green apple and leather appear, along with sharp smoke and black pepper. The palate is rich, with chocolate, creosote, tar, eucalyptus and smoked bacon. The finish is long and salty, with hints of cocoa and fudge.
