Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five year old Islay single malt, bottled by the distillery in 2020 at 47.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered. The name joins the Scots word wee, meaning small, with beastie, a small creature with a big personality.
It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks, which add depth to the smoke.
The nose is fresh and spicy, with vanilla, pear, black pepper, Turkish coffee, pine resin and honey-glazed ham. The palate is rich and powerful, with chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon, then eucalyptus, cough drops and aniseed. The finish is long, salty and mouth-filling, with cocoa, fudge and smoke.
