Ardmore – 11 Whisky Heroes: Fury of the Obsidian Colossus 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Barrique Finish

This is an 11 year old single cask Ardmore, distilled in 2013 and selected by Brave New Spirits for its Whisky Heroes series. It was finished in a first-fill Oloroso sherry barrique, which adds sweetness to its smoky character. Only 220 bottles were filled, and the comic-style label reflects the name Fury of the Obsidian Colossus. The nose has strong smoke, dry cedar and a background of dried fruit. The palate is creamy milk chocolate with aged sherry notes and juicy raisins in a smoky frame. The finish is long, with strong peat smoke, soft chocolate and dried fruit.
