Ardmore – 2009 Laphroaig/Port Cask, Lord of the Highlands (58%)

This is an Ardmore single malt distilled in 2009 and bottled at 58% abv under the Lord of the Highlands name. It matured in a former port cask that had previously held Laphroaig whisky, which pairs a firm Islay character with the creamy sweetness of port. The nose offers peat and warming smoke with strawberries and oranges. The palate is powerful and full, with port sweetness working alongside peaty flavours, surrounded by fruit and honey. The finish is long and warming.
