This Highland single malt is Seyton, part of Act One of the Macbeth Collection and of its series The Household. The collection runs to 42 whiskies in six series, each representing a character from Shakespeare's tragedy. Elixir Distillers selected and bottled it together with Livingstone, and Sir Quentin Blake drew the illustration. The peated Ardmore was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023 at 52.5%, without chill-filtration or added colour, in an outturn of 3,200 bottles. It matured in American and European oak casks, including ex-Laphroaig barrels, which add smoky depth while the whisky keeps a fresh, herbal character. The nose offers smoke, coastal notes, marzipan and lemon peel. On the palate come malt, tar, honey and cooked orchard fruit, and the finish is warming and earthy.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Smoke and coastal notes with farmyard and earthy mushroom hints, marzipan, macadamia butter, almonds, crushed wild apples, salted caramel, lemon peel and shortbread

Palate

Malt, tar and honey with cooked stone and orchard fruit, nutty and oily, lightly medicinal, with salted caramel, lemon peel and damp hessian

Finish

Warming and earthy, with sweetness and salt alongside the smoke, and a faint buttery, fruity and medicinal echo

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
