Arran – Machrie Moor (70cl, 46%)

This is Arran's peated single malt, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It began as limited edition batches and has since joined the distillery's permanent range. The name comes from a peat bog on the west side of the island, which also has stone circles. One is said to have been used by a giant to tether its dog, Bran, who appears on the label. The nose is peppery malt with baked earth, balanced by orchard fruit and eucalyptus. The palate opens with lychee juice, followed by dry smoke and cut grass. The finish is lingering orange zest and lemongrass.
