Arran – New 25 Years

This is a 25-year-old single malt from Arran, released in 2020 to mark the distillery's 25th year of production. The whisky matured in a combination of 35% ex-sherry casks and 65% ex-bourbon casks. Before bottling it spent 12 months in first-fill and refill sherry hogsheads. The nose is rich oak with a little nutmeg, alongside baked ripe figs, sultanas and black cherries. On the palate are fruit cake with toasted almonds and cinnamon, juicy orange and mandarin, Manuka honey, muscovado sugar, baked apricots and a note of white pepper. The finish is creamy and spicy, with dark chocolate, walnuts and a compote of dark fruit.
