Arran – Signature Series Edition 2 Barrel Bonfire

Arran Signature Series Edition 2 Barrel Bonfire is an 11-year-old peated single malt, chosen by Stewart Bowman, the distillery manager at Arran. It is peated to 42 ppm. The whisky was filled in 2012 and spent its first five and a half years in ex-bourbon casks. In September 2018 it was moved into 115-litre quarter casks from the Koval distillery in Chicago for a further five and a half years. Arran has not distilled peated whisky since 2017, and these quarter casks were used only for this edition. There are 14,822 bottles. Light amber in colour, it has caramel-coated hazelnuts, orange peel and vanilla on the nose, with plenty of dry smoke. The palate is oily and spicy, with cinnamon and citrus. The finish is long and sweet, with vanilla, peat and dry bonfire smoke.
