Arran – Single Cask 28 Year Old 1996 Refill Bourbon Hogshead

This is a single cask Arran, distilled in 1996, a year after the distillery opened, and bottled in 2024 after 28 years in a refill bourbon hogshead. The nose is elegant and well matured, with white oak, dried flowers, candied citrus and rich maltiness, later bringing beeswax, cedar, honeysuckle and a hint of coconut. The palate is dense and lively, with dried apricots, stone fruits and fresh dates over a soft malty base, plus caramel, cocoa butter and a pinch of clove. The finish is long, moving from resinous wood to stone fruit and malty florals, with candlewax returning.
