This is an Arran single malt finished in Sauternes casks, bottled at 50% abv in a 70cl bottle. It is an older bottling, from around 2010.
The Sauternes casks previously held Bordeaux sweet wine, which lends a honeyed sweetness to the malt from the only single malt distillery on the Isle of Arran.
The nose opens with acacia honey, then apricot, banana and pear, with a floral note arriving over time. The palate is sweet with warm spice, and lemon zest and a slight saltiness appear when water is added. The finish is crisp, with Seville orange, Sauternes and honey.
