Auchentoshan 17 Year Old is a single malt bottled at 51% ABV in an edition of 3600 bottles. It spent eight years in bourbon casks, then nine years in Saint-Julien casks from Bordeaux. Its colour is gold to orange.
The nose is of overripe oranges and ham, with pineapple liqueur, ganache, praline, nougat, caramel and roasted nuts. The palate is creamy and nutty, close to hazelnut liqueur, with crème brûlée, fudge, cappuccino and strawberry jam. The finish is rather long, with spiced jam, mulled wine and liqueur-filled chocolate.
