Auchentoshan – 1999 Signatory #3 (70cl, 55.6%)

This is an Auchentoshan from 1999, bottled independently by Signatory as number 3 in a 70cl bottle at 55.6% ABV. Auchentoshan stands on the western edge of Glasgow, close to the River Clyde and the Erskine Bridge. Its water comes from the Kilpatrick Hills, which lie in the Highlands, yet the distillery is counted among the Lowlands. It is described as the only remaining distillery in the region still using triple distillation in three stills of different sizes, a method once common there that makes the whisky soft and fragrant.
