Auchentoshan – 2012 Old Malt Cask (70cl, 50%)

This is a 2012 Auchentoshan single malt from the Old Malt Cask range, bottled by Hunter Laing in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV. Auchentoshan stands on the western edge of Glasgow, close to the River Clyde. Its water comes from the Kilpatrick Hills, which lie in the Highland region, yet the distillery is counted among the Lowlands. It is the only remaining distillery there to triple distil in three stills of different sizes, a method once usual across the region and said to give a soft, fragrant whisky. The distillery is thought to date from around 1800.
