1st fill bourbon barrel
A Speyside single malt from Aultmore, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2025 by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It spent 15 years in a single first fill bourbon barrel, cask 4679, and is bottled at 56.8% ABV, one of 200 bottles in a 70cl size. Aultmore runs relatively small stills with downward lyne arms and long fermentations, giving a character that is fragrant on the nose and substantial on the tongue. The nose offers lemon zest, gorse flowers and apricot jam, then honeydew melon, charred oak and a hint of ginger. Pineapple, baked apple and vanilla lead the palate, with crystallised violets and honeycomb. The finish is sweet, with tropical fruit.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
