Bache-Gabrielsen BGW is an experimental French single malt from Maison Bache-Gabrielsen in Cognac, made from French barley and bottled at 42% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is matured twice: first in American oak casks that previously held Cognac, then in French oak casks that previously held Aquavit. The result is a fresh, herbaceous whisky with delicate malt.
The nose brings lemon verbena, citrus, white pepper and fennel. Fresh malt with angelica flower and tarragon follows on the palate, and the finish is long and warming, with herbs, a light bitterness and lingering spice.
