Bache-Gabrielsen – Whisky Français 5 Year Old Aquavit Cask Finish (70cl, 42%)

This is a five-year-old French single malt from Bache-Gabrielsen, made from French barley and bottled at 42% in a 70cl bottle. It matures first in former cognac casks of American oak, then receives a finish in French oak casks that previously held aquavit. The aquavit cask links the French whisky to the Norwegian roots of the house. The nose brings lemon verbena, light fresh citrus, white pepper and fennel. On the palate come fresh malt, angelica blossom and tarragon with soft vanilla. The finish is warm and long, with a herbal bitterness, oak and fine herb spice.
