Chestnut cask (ex-Cognac)
A French single malt from Bache-Gabrielsen, made from French barley and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered and has no added colour. Maturation takes place in three stages: first old Cognac casks, then new chestnut casks, and finally chestnut casks that previously held Cognac. The house was founded in 1905 and specialises in Cognac, and here it applies that cask work to malt whisky. The nose is described as walnut shells, fresh chestnuts, leather and old furniture. The palate is smooth, light and fresh, with roasted fruit, chestnut and cashew. The finish is long and fresh, with medlar, kumquat, clove and cumin.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
