This is a 17 year old single malt from Balblair, made at the Edderton distillery in the Northern Highlands. It is a Travel Retail release, bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.
The whisky first matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then receives a second maturation in first-fill Spanish oak sherry butts.
The nose offers toasted oak, vanilla, baked apple and dried stone fruit with a little chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, with dark cherry, caramel, pear, nutmeg and cocoa. The finish is long and warm, with dark chocolate, sweet apple and baking spice.
