This is a 38-year-old Highland single malt from Balblair, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was distilled in 1986, matured in a single refill American hogshead and bottled in 2025 at 50.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle. 114 bottles were filled, and the whisky is natural in colour and not chill-filtered.
On the nose, lemon zest and waxy apple sit alongside floral notes and a gentle spice from aged oak. The palate brings juicy pineapple, marzipan and white pepper in a creamy texture. The finish is long and creamy, with poached pear, soft spice and fine oak.
