This Balblair is a 31 year old Highland single malt from Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range, in a 70cl bottle.
It was distilled in 1991 and matured in a single refill American hogshead. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 16 February 2023 at a cask strength of 51.8%, without chill-filtration and with its natural colour. The cask yielded 260 bottles.
The nose opens with ripe banana and apple, then toasted grain, cocoa powder and lime blossom. The palate is soft and creamy, with orange marmalade, pressed apple and pear, and freshly cracked pepper. The finish moves from lively citrus to charred oak, with gentle herbal notes.
