This is a 30 year old Balblair from the Highlands, a single cask bottling in Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range, in a 70cl bottle at 54.2% ABV.
It was distilled in 1993 and matured in a first fill sherry puncheon, cask 1963. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 18 April 2024, filling 481 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose offers blackcurrant, dark sugar syrup and aniseed, with dark cherry, mandarin and a hint of beeswax polish. On the palate come orange zest, redcurrant and black pepper, then ripe red apple, tart raspberry and liquorice. The finish is medium in strength, with fruit cake and warming ginger.
