Eclipse is a cask strength straight rye whisky from the Balcones distillery in Texas, bottled at 64% in a 70cl bottle. It is pot distilled and matured for four years in new oak casks.
The nose is complex, with spice, rye, oak, leather, chocolate and overripe fruit. On the palate it is intense, with espresso, clove, ginger, dark chocolate and mint. Adding water brings out sweeter, fruitier notes.
The finish is long, with spice and chocolate to the fore.
