Ballechin is the heavily peated spirit made at Edradour Distillery since 2003, and this is its 10 year old Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle. The barley is infused with peat to a level of not less than 50ppm.
The whisky is mainly drawn from ex-Bourbon casks, with a generous addition of ex-Oloroso sherry casks for extra depth and complexity. It is bottled at 46% without chill-filtration.
The name comes from a Perthshire farm distillery that closed in 1927, where Alfred Barnard noted a peated whisky in the 1880s.
