Ballechin 10 Year Old is a heavily peated Highland single malt from Edradour, in a 70cl bottle at 46%. It is non-chill-filtered and uncoloured.
The malt was peated to at least 50ppm and aged for 10 years in first-fill bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks. The name is taken from the Ballechin distillery, which closed long ago.
The nose is campfire smoke and earthy peat with dark fruit, cocoa and a trace of cured meat. The palate is full-bodied and smoky, with black pepper, burnt toffee, dried cherry and roasted malt. The finish is long, with spice, oak tannins and charred sweetness.
