Ballechin 10 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is the core 10 year old expression of Ballechin, a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky made at Edradour. The name comes from the silent Ballechin distillery near Edradour. It is matured in a combination of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks, and is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The nose is oily malt with whiffs of burnt ends and barbecue char, plus touches of apple and fig. On the palate come chewy dates and oak, with smouldering peat adding spicy heat, and a hint of ash lingers in the finish.
