Ballechin 13 Year Old Heavily Peated Cask Strength Edition Batch 1 (70cl, 54.9%)

This is a 13 year old single malt from Ballechin, the heavily peated range made at the Edradour distillery in the Scottish Highlands. It is the first batch of the Cask Strength Edition, bottled at 54.9% ABV. Ballechin is described as a distinctly smokier style than the classic Edradour bottlings, with dense peat smoke, malty sweetness and spice alongside ripe fruit and oak. The tasting notes give a nose of strong peat smoke, malt, dark fruit, spices and oak. The palate is full and oily, with smoke, sweet malt, pepper, fruit and robust oak spice. The finish is long, warming and smoky, with dry spice and lingering peat.
