This is a 15 year old Highland single malt bottled by Whisky Sponge, the second of its secret editions. It was made by combining equal parts of Whisky Sponge Editions 36A, 36B and 36C, then reducing the mix to 48.5% ABV. Only 121 bottles were filled.
The whisky draws on three casks: a first fill barrel, a refill fino sherry butt and a second fill sherry hogshead. The bottler describes the balance between these cask types as unexpectedly good.
It is described as big, earthy, sooty and deeply smoky.
