A 17 year old Highland single malt from Ballechin, distilled in 2004 and bottled by Whisky Sponge as Edition No.36A. It matured for its full term in a first fill bourbon barrel and was bottled at a natural cask strength of 53.7%, with an outturn of 188 bottles. It is part one of the Spongetopia Trilogy, titled 'The Sands of Sponge', a series of three sci-fi pulp novel themed labels. The nose combines smoked herbal tea, barnyard peat, leather and lamp oil, with menthol cream at the end. The palate is compact and intense, with bitumen, limestone minerality and chopped herbs. The finish is long, tarry and medicinal.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
