This Ballechin was distilled in 2004 at Edradour and matured for the full 17 years in a refill fino sherry butt. It is a peaty Highland single malt bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with an outturn of 623 bottles.
It is part two of Whisky Sponge's Spongetopia Trilogy, titled The Triumph of Influencers, with sci-fi pulp novel label art.
The nose is sweet, nutty and slightly saline, with air-dried meats, tanned leather and rock salt. The palate brings sweet, bituminous smoke, reduced red and black berry jams, leather and roasted cashews, with Serrano ham. The finish is long, meaty and salty, washed with iodine.
