Ballechin 2005 15 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Edradour, bottled by Whisky Sponge as Edition No.36C. It was matured for its full term in a second fill sherry hogshead and bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.3%, with an outturn of 266 bottles. It is part three of the Spongetopia Trilogy, called The Secondary Darkness, a series of sci-fi themed labels with a short opening paragraph on the back of each. The notes describe pure sherry and peat: dark, thick and leathery, with industrial smoke, bitter chocolate, tobacco, smoked chilli and oily, syrupy peat.
